I invited a friend for happy hour at Carruth-the wine bar in the lobby, and surprised her with resort passes getting us access to the hot tub. 
Wine bar was great. Then we went to Ash Social on the 16th floor for more wine, good food and great views!
Then we ended our night relaxing in the hot tub. It was perfect!
There was no one else in the pool/hot tub area on a Thursday night. Great place to have a fun and relaxing night in San Diego! 

Happy hour turned to hot tub hour 

Very good experience, gym is awesome. However, I was really looking forward to the hot tub, but it it was barely heated.

Really nice gym

The hotel, pool, jacuzzi and outside lounge area was beautiful. Jacuzzi was relaxing. However, they say the pool is heated but it really wasn’t.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful. The gym was huge and the pool area was very nice. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a staycation.

I had a wonderful stay! 

Perfect place for a resort pass. It’s close to little Italy and has a wonderful pool to lounge at when you are done exploring.

Beautiful hotel, clean pretty lap pool. Though very small and only 3 ft deep. Nice hot tub. Amazing Gym. Too bad they close the gym so early though. Too early. Overall great place

it was nice but the pool was freezing on a 90 degree day.
and they gave fit Gym tours. kinda weird for fully dressed groups people to walk around you every 5 minutes

Nice spot. Not busy. Took until noon to get full Sun so slightly cold until then. Major construction going on next-door so it was a little loud. They would do well to put some music on to drown that out and make the area more enjoyable. Also, no pool service. Part of the reason I wanted to be at a pool was to get pool service and have some cocktails. I would have had to go downstairs to the lobby myself. Not terrible but a little disappointing since I was looking for a staycation experience. Most likely shorthanded. 

Love the area 

Overall a pleasant stay: very nice staff, very modern gym, big hot tub, and a long narrow pool which was not very deep. The value for the money matched my expectation. Sunshine is limited due to tall buildings all around, but this was a plus for me - I chose this venue specifically for this purpose (meds I take prohibit direct sun). The downside was the the construction going on right next to the pool area. I mean huge, excavating city block construction. It was so loud that you could barely hear the ambient music playing in the pool area (and this music was cranked up pretty good). Of course, this is no fault of the Carte Hotel. I would book again, but most likely on a Sunday.
