Daybed

Pool service was excellent - shout out to AJ for his attentiveness given the weekend was packed - drinks were delicious! Friday and Saturday afternoon DJs played fun old school throw back music mixes. We will definitely come back again!

Daybed

I have been to Hotel Van Zandt many times over the years that I’ve lived in Austin, so I was genuinely shocked by how bad this experience was. I booked a daybed through ResortPass for my boyfriend’s birthday because I wanted us to have a relaxing afternoon by the pool. I paid approximately $200 after taxes, and we ended up leaving after only 45 minutes because the experience was so unpleasant. When we arrived, the pool area was extremely overcrowded. The pool itself was shoulder-to-shoulder with people, and the water was murky and uncomfortably warm. The entire atmosphere felt chaotic and completely different from the upscale, relaxing pool experience I expected based on how the hotel and ResortPass market this offering. The ResortPass booking stated that we would check in upon arrival and show our ID and reservation, but there was no apparent check-in area or process. I eventually asked a server at the bar where we should check in for our reserved daybed, and she simply pointed toward the pool and told us to go grab the bed. When we found our daybed, the reserved sign had been moved and another group had taken it over. Their drinks, clothes, purse, and other belongings were spread across the bed we had paid to reserve. When I pointed this out to the server, she walked over, removed their belongings from the bed, and told us to sit down. There were also no towels waiting for us as advertised. We sat there for approximately 10 minutes before a server brought over a small bucket of ice with two waters and immediately walked away before I could even place a drink order. Another 15–20 minutes went by without anyone checking on us, so my boyfriend eventually had to find a server himself to place an order. The server who took the order was slurring her words, grinding her teeth, and had to ask us for the order multiple times. It then took another 15 minutes or so for two drinks to arrive. Beyond the service issues, the overall pool environment was incredibly rowdy and inappropriate for what was advertised as a luxury hotel pool experience. There was excessive twerking and behavior in the pool that made it feel more like an overcrowded party pool than an upscale hotel. After about 45 minutes, we decided to leave. We had specifically booked this as part of my boyfriend’s birthday, and instead of being relaxing or special, it was uncomfortable, frustrating, and honestly embarrassing given that I had planned it as a birthday experience. For nearly $200, I expected our reserved daybed to actually be reserved, the advertised amenities to be available, reasonable service, and an environment consistent with Hotel Van Zandt's reputation. Unfortunately, we received none of those things. I would not recommend purchasing this ResortPass experience based on what we encountered.

Happy Hour Pass

Very cute, but very not for kids. We stayed for 3 minutes and left bc even my kids could read the adult-only vibes. But would have loved the spot for a girls date, and would book with adults in mind.

Day Pass

Soooo much fun! My lady went on a weekday with her daughter and had a peaceful experience. We went on a Saturday, and it was like Spring Break. There was a DJ playing great music and beautiful people everywhere. It was an all day party.
