Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center

It's a pool , towel and a chair. 

Whirlpool in the men's locker room was out of order without any notice and the steam and sauna did not get very hot.  There was no male locker room attendant for the spa and so there were female attendants frequently entering the locker room at will and without warning, which did not make for a very relaxing environment.  Staff were diligent, but overall seemed disinterested.

This was fine. A bit rugged around the edges. But very nice, overall!

I decided to book a pass for myself and my friend at Relache Spa. Im from out of town and wanted to decompress. The service was exceptional. Lea was beyond hospitable and incredibly attentive to our needs. The entire staff went above and beyond to ensure that we had a great experience. my friend and I observed how collaborative the staff is. Its like an harmonious atmosphere where everyone is diligent in making sure that every area is well stocked and fully functional to enhance each guest experience.  

Exceptional Service and Staff

New to resort pass...(comment on that later) which was purchased for my birthday spa day experience with my daughter. I selected Gaylord because of prior experiences within the Gaylord brand and it's proximity to a planned dinner and show, however, this location was less than whelming. Many attempts to reach the spa went unanswered to schedule Spa services prior to my selected date, with the 20% savings provided by the resort pass purchase. I could only schedule upon arrival with two services on the last hour available. Although it was promoted that you could order food from one of their hotel restaurants, I was told, "no outside food" in the spa space. The lounge chairs were uncomfortable and the floor in the steam room was slimy (my bad, should have remembered my shower shoes) and no slippers were offered. Although there wasn't a glaring example of poor customer service by individual personnel, the general vibe was a "lack of attention".  

Diminished Amenities and lack of response

I arrived at the Spa doing posted business hours to find the facility closed. I did not have an appointment for services but there was not an indication that you were required to have one. The hotel front desk explained that they were a third party establishment separate from the resort . They attempted to contact the Spas management but were unsuccessful.

It's okay

The Relache Spa is very relaxing. The view of the Potomac is fantastic. I loved the Gua Sha facial massage, my skin was glowing afterwards. My aesthetician Amy was warm and very knowledgeable. She made recommendations about future treatments and I plan to return quarterly for the 55 minute facial and treat myself every now and then to the Gua Sha. All in all I had a great stay and plan on being a repeat customer. 

Enjoyable Stay

I enjoyed myself. Check in was smooth and the steam rooms worked. I even paid for a massage with Diamond which was a 10/10.
